Private Dec. 1915; L/Corporal Jan. 1917; Officer Cadet April 1917; 2nd Lieut.
July 1917. France April 1918. Wounded I9th and died on 26th July 1918

Peter Fairbairn – age 40 – Private (34052) 16th Battalion (2nd Edinburgh) Royal Scots.
In 1911 Peter was working as a stone dyker and was living with his family at 95 Wood Street, Galashiels and in 1915 they were at Crosshouse in Manor Parish, Peeblesshire. (Source: Valuation Roll)
Peter died of disease in the 55th Casualty Clearing Station at Tincourt.
Born 1876 in Galashiels. Son of the late John Fairbairn (died 1900) and of the late Margaret Naysmyth (Kay) Fairbairn (died 1905) formerly of Magdala Terrace, Galashiels. Husband of Margaret (McLaren) Fairbairn of 212 Halliburton Place, Galashiels who he married in 1907 in Moulin, Perthshire.
Died on Active Service on 16 July 1917 and buried in Tincourt New British Cemetery, Somme, France. _________________ Ken |
