The Pecten was a British Motor Tanker of 7,468 tons built in 1927 by Palmers Shipbuilding & Iron Co Ltd, Jarrow and Hebburn-on-Tyne and was owned by Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co Ltd. On the 25th August 1940 when on route from Trinidad for Clyde carrying 9,546 tons of fuel oil she was torpedoed by German submarine U-57 and sunk. 49 crew lost from a total crew 57.
