Hi John,

I thought for a minute you'd got the wrong John Dryburgh as there's another one -

From CWGC:
Name: DRYBURGH, JOHN
Initials: J
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Serjeant
Regiment/Service: Gordon Highlanders
Unit Text: 8th/10th Bn.
Age: 23
Date of Death: 30/05/1916
Service No: S/1782
Additional information: Son of Alexander and Elizabeth Dryburgh, of 14, Lockhead Row, Coaltown, East Wemyss, Fife.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: IV. C. 31.
Cemetery: VERMELLES BRITISH CEMETERY

From SNWW:
Surname DRYBURGH
Firstname John

Date Death 30/05/1916
Decoration
Place of birth Wemyss Fife
Other 8/10th Bn.
SNWM roll THE GORDON HIGHLANDERS

Could this be James?

From CWGC:

Date of Death: 24/02/1919

Thanks for information but parents names and dates of death do not tie in with gravestone dates. Also, burying one of the lads in Kirkcaldy and not home seems strange. (Nothing against Kirkcaldy!)

It would appear parents and sons names were on gravestone and latterly the words "Who fell in action killed in France" and year were added. This information could be wrong, though I doubt it. I will have to search through local papers.
